Drivers, who want to be driver partners of Uber, have to attend a screening process, before they are taken in. Checkr is the company involved in the process of screening. The driver has to provide his Social Security Number and the number of his driver’s license for a check. However, there are no charges made on the screening test, neither is a credit check made on him. The test results are announced after a week.

Uber Drivers and Remuneration

The Uber driver can earn more, in proportion to the drives he makes that day. The more drives he makes, the more he earns. The fares are deposited directly into the bank account and weekly payments are made without any delay. Uber fares are calculated, taking into consideration the base fare, the time and the distance rates. A booking fee is charged on the rider.

Uber drivers have to bear their own expenses as well as having a commercial insurance policy. Uber driving can be made as a temporary work, seasonal work, part-time or a full-time work. Drivers can work with flexible hours as they make their own hours.

Background Checks Made

The rules and regulations regarding the background checks made on the Uber drivers vary. Though each country stipulates its own rules and regulations, there are certain basic background checks that Uber makes on the driver.

The driver has to apply for the post and he will have to sign consenting for a background check to be made on him. His driving records will also be checked. The background checks that are made on him are the county and federal courthouse records for 7 years; the motor vehicle record; the multi-state criminal database; Social Security Trace and records for National Sex Offender Registry will have be made. Other checks contain a license history of 1 year minimum, reckless driving records, criminal background records, speed violation are some checks made.

Criminal Background

The criminal background check is to make sure that misdemeanor or felonies involving violence, drugs or theft, are not recorded in the name of the driver. However, from November 2016, Uber is allowing a few felons who are non-violent, to act as drivers. Usually the checks are made for 7 years. Hence, for misdemeanors, drivers can wait for 7 years before applying while felons have a far remote chance of passing the test, even after 7 years.
